Evolving an identity for one of London's largest housing charities

A new name and brand for Evolve Housing + Support

For over 150 years South London YMCA had been providing services to some of the most vulnerable people in the area.

But a change of direction by the broader YMCA resulted in the need to disaffiliate from the federation, and, for the first time, really think about what they represented and what was important to them as an independent organisation.

The process was consultative, collaborative and holistic. Following a complex naming process, we created a distinctively simple yet visually rich and colourful identity, and a UX driven website, which worked for multiple and diverse audiences from service users to commissioning bodies.

What They Said

“From the start, Rachel and her team really understood our focus around engaging our customers (the homeless people we work with) and staff and stakeholders in the development of our new name, website and marketing collateral. We’re really happy with the new name which really sums the work we do with people who’ve been through a crisis.”
