Branding Out Of The Dark
Out of the Dark are a charitable social enterprise that recycle, and revamp discarded furniture to create strikingly unique pieces. In the process they train, educate and employ young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our immediate realisation on seeing their existing square identity? “You’re not square. You’re a circle.”
Circles are about rebirth. They suggest the infinite, completeness, unity and harmony. They protect. They endure.
We combined this with the idea of layers – paint to a piece of furniture, a new skill to a young person, which also echoed the ideas of emergence and eclipse suggested by their name. The result is bright, classically mid-century, and timeless with a modern twist.
We were heartbroken when Out Of The Dark were no longer able to continue their work, but delighted that their ethos continues in the work of Jay&Co. Find him here.
